PvP did a strip a while ago featuring a Grammar Nazi character.  Kyle thought of me–but I thought of fanart!

Spin Rack

After our last convention showing, I really wanted a tabletop comic spin rack!  Partially to decrease the footprint on the table because we’ve got a lotta books!  Also because I’m old enough to remember the spin racks at 7-11 of HEY KIDS Scrooge McDuck comics.

Michael’s Google-fu was strong, and he found the rack at a store in Calgary.  Where they also, randomly, sell these, one of which is living on top of his TV.

Today I printed up the little cardboard stop-the-comics-falling-through-the-bars thingies.  And the sign for the top.

Beaver Mountin’

Did you see the 2010 Olympic Closing Ceremonies? Speaking as a Canadian, that Michael Bublé dance number was astounding. It was like watching the contents of a Banff gift shop get up and sing.

What stuck with me, though, were the dancing Mountie girls. I knew I’d be drawing one. I even took screenshots of the TV coverage to get the costume right.

That is one angry goddamn beaver.

Titooine

I apologize for that.

Here’s the finished Twi’lek slave girl!

With two suns, Lisa thinks the shadows should be more severe, but I don’t want to paint black all over her.  Twi’leks don’t exist, so I feel okay about taking certain astronomical licenses.  How can we know how Tatooine’s suns look?  We cannot.

Twi’Lek Slave Girl

I’ve inked my previous alien princess sketch as a Twi’Lek slave girl.  Not Oola: I don’t like green, and her leg-warmers were so 80s.  I have antipathy for Oola.  Rancor, you might say.

I’ve already started colouring her.  (Blue.)  She’s one of three new prints I hope to have ready for the Expo.

(edit: coloured, finished version is here)
